AI Engineer (m/f/d)

Bremen
•
Full time
•
40 Hours

As an AI Engineer (m/f/d), you bring generative AI to where it counts: into production at our clients. You work directly with business teams, find the processes where an AI agent truly makes a difference, and build it with modern AI coding tools from prototype to go-live.

Responsibilities

  • Work close to the client: understand real workflows together with business and IT teams, and recognize where an AI agent pays off – and where it does not

  • Sharpen use cases in workshops: Is there real volume, is the process stable, can "correctly processed" be defined measurably?

  • Develop AI agents and LLM applications from prototype to production system – with retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, and multi-step workflows

  • Process unstructured inputs (PDFs, scans, emails, voice), encode domain rules, and integrate with the client's systems

  • Prove quality before an agent goes live: evaluations, guardrails, tests, and traceability for auditors and regulators

  • Translate between worlds: explain the same system technically to the client's IT and in outcome-focused terms to business teams and management

  • Bring what you learn in projects back to the team and into our platform, so each use case makes the next one faster

Qualifications

  • A completed degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, or similar

  • You want your solutions to be used in day-to-day work and take ownership through to go-live

  • 2-4 years of experience in software development or a comparable technical field, ideally with LLM applications

  • You work with AI coding agents (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) as a matter of course and direct them confidently to build, debug, and ship

  • You understand unfamiliar systems quickly: you read your way into a codebase or system landscape and see what it does, why, and where the risks are

  • Solid TypeScript skills (e.g. React, NestJS) and experience with APIs, Git, and containers (Docker)

  • Strong communication skills and enjoyment of direct client contact – in scoping, workshops, and managing expectations

  • Enthusiasm for generative AI and an urge to try new models and techniques as soon as they appear

  • Willingness to work on-site with our clients

  • German at C1/C2 level, plus confident written and spoken English

Nice to Have

  • Experience in regulated industries such as banking, insurance, or the public sector

  • Hands-on experience with agent frameworks, evaluating LLMs and agents, and prompt and context engineering

  • Experience taking AI from prototype to production – not just demos

  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) or running language models on your own infrastructure

  • Open-source contributions or publications on agents and applied AI

What We Offer

  • Projects at the forefront of generative AI: the newest models and techniques, deployed at clients for whom reliability and traceability are mandatory

  • Consultants and developers on the same projects: you see an idea become a use case and then a running system

  • Direct contact with clients and end-to-end responsibility for your own use cases

  • Individual development through training, certifications, and workshops

  • Insights into various industries and company sizes

  • Personal growth with clear prospects toward a senior role

  • Case-team events & attractive employee benefits (company fitness, mobility)

Don't tick every box? Results from your projects convince us more than a complete checklist. If you want to build AI solutions that actually run, we want to hear from you.

Send your CV to info@blackfield.ai. We look forward to your application!
